Oops. Seems I've done something silly. Although it's not really. Honest. I've just bought a 1993 Saab 900 16v convertible. MOT'd and pretty tidy for £675. Just in time for the autumn! PS Just come back from the Saab International 2010 in Switzerland, which I attended in my 1983 900 GLs (one of only four flat-fronts there!). She developed a noisy wheel bearing but was otherwise superb. Old cars rule Here's the proof!

That looks like a lot of car for the money, well done Howard! Glad to see the Saab made that journey relatively trouble free, well done for sticking two fingers up at the moderns!

The convertible has faults, sure. The chappie I bought it from was totally and utterly honest. He disclosed every one of them, and I traced the original owner who verified the problems that it had. He hid nothing.
The roof will need replacing (in hand) and the radiator is holed, it needs the discs and pads changing all round, balljoints etc. A very small bit of rust coming through, but nothing serious (behind the striker plates). Drives very well indeed. I love it.
Yes, the number plate made me laugh - in fact L98GYM (a 9000 Aero) is for sale on YouTube (bought new by Sting) - as for pumping iron, I draw the line at pumping up tyres!
Switzerland is amazing. Staggering. Beautiful. And surprisingly cheap. I will be going again, and I suggest if you get the chance then GO. It's fairytale, and everyone is friendly and crime is conspicuous only by its absence.
