A friend of mine and myself went halves on one of these wee rare beasties tonight. www.saabsportclub.com/site/ssc_theque/biblio/images/man-saab_1985_90.jpgA Saab what? We bought it for spares, but typically, I have a feeling it is way too good to break. It's only just out of MOT - and apart from having a broken side window and soggy brake/clutch it's fine. It's going to be hard to attack this one with an angle grinder! So I probably won't. So there MIGHT be a yellow 99 up for sale shortly......if I can bear to part with it! Yoinks! I was meant to be getting rid of things!

Oh Howard! ;D You've done it again!! Look forward to photos, you clearly have a good taste in Saabs and an uncanny knack of picking up the right car at the right price, fair play to you!

Wasn't the 90 bought out as a sop for buyers when the 99 was dropped wasn't it? Basically a two door 900 with a short nose.
A bit like Ford bringing out the "Orion" for people who missed the Cortina saloon after the Sierra launch.

No, it's silver - on a "C" plate. There's not many of these left, it would appear. As for cost, it was £160 (£80 each) - and as for condition, I actually hope that it turns out to be WORSE than I expect so I can justify ripping it to shreds. However, the more I find out about it the more I realise it may be worth saving.
You're right Patrick, but I think it was more due to plenty of bits being left over at the Finnish factory. They were only sold in Europe, and just 25,000 were made (they'm very popular in Holland still, allegedly).
I don't mind its story - I like oddball cars. And 90s to me look very odd. I honestly think that I've only seen two or three ever!
It's coming Monday, so I will post photos then for those who may be interested!

I was pleased they did/made it - I think they (would have) missed out on that 'lower middle' car sector as a result. I know one or two people who graduated from Triumphs (ironically) to the smaller Saabs in the seventies then never looked back.
