My van has one side window at each side in the back.
Was this a factory modification or is it likely to have been done later.
The registration document says Van.
I have seen pictures of 33s on what appear to be factory publicity shots with similar window layouts and also with 2 each side.
Is there any way of checking from the Chassis number if it is a factory mod or not?
Regards
P.S. Restoration is moving on. Should be in the paint shop next week!

;)Hi,littlebelter; your DAF is a Combi. The factory work shop manual shows the Combi as having one window each side behind the driver and passenger. From memory extra side windows could be purchased.Good luck with your Combi. The registration document will show it as van. It's not an estate but just a van with windows. In the 60's and 70's vans were officially restricted to 40 m.p.h.The fitting of extra windows in the sides of vans allowed the restriction to not apply. If I remember there was extra duty/purchase tax to pay, this amount varied depending how old the vehicle was at the time of conversion.I am not sure how this applied on a Combi as in all the years we were DAF agents we didn't sell a Combi.Regards starider

Thanks for that info Folks.
I have now checked the builder's plate (Under the bonnet, driver's side inner wing).
Can't find a number 3305 or 3306 anywhere.
There is "Type 33B" and the vin number is 785033
The 50 mile journey to the paint shop was uneventful but I think I am going to have to check the timing as the engine sometimes splutters as if it's laying fried eggs when trying to accelerate!
I reckon the speedo is on the blink as well because I was passing lorries on the motorway and it was only showing 45mph!
Is there likely to be a makers plate anywhere else on the vehicle?
Cheers.

:)Hi littlebelter, the flat spot on acceleration could be the timing, but if the Combi has been of the road for some time it is possible that the carburettor needs a good clean and blow out, especially the jets from the accelerator pump. The venturi needs a good metered jet of fuel when the pedal is first depressed,if there is a blockage in the accelerator pump passages and the ensuing jet is not adequate, you will experience a flat spot or spluttering. The chassis number is also stamped into the bodywork under the bonnet on the bulkhead just above where the heater pipes go through into the interior. starider.

Thanks for that advice, starider, I will check this out when I get the (Van?) back from the paintshop.
