;D cleaned and refitted ziffy's wheel cyls and went for a blatt what fun running very well first time in years. Yeeha !! She smoked like a hippy on the first day of a festival this was down to using the wrong petrol can one from last years mowing! A word of warning unleaded fuel goes off very quickly and I'd have normally chucked this stuff . But some adjusting of the brakes try are binding a bit, and a new set of balloons ,should be soon belting around regular. ;D oh she dosent veer violently like the 55 so I still reckon its the belts but I'll soon be proved right or wrong on that oh by any chance is the oil light circuit connected to the brake reservoir??! Since I did the brakes and reconnected the wires on the brake res the oil light works perfect ??!!

I don't know about that particular area of wiring but I do know exactly the phenomenon to which you refer. Up until a couple of weeks ago the needle on Gavina's fuel guage would only recognise how much fuel she had at start up and not move again until the ignition was cut and then reconnected. Then a couple of weeks ago I had to look at something else electrical (can't remember now but it'll come to me eventually...hopefully) and now, oddly, the fuel guage works again! Not all good news though as her Norris McWhirters seemed to start go downhill around the same time. Just old cars liking to have the occasional grumble to remind you that they are indeed old. Well done for getting her running, result!

I cant see why it would be connected. More likely that you just jogged the sender wire whilst working

Whaa. A 70s car with a brake fluid light. I wondered why my master cylinder cap had electrical contacts on it. But there definatly no wire to them

i believe only the late 44's the one with the quarter-lights have the warning lamp the same as the 46.... in the uk anyway they also had a hand operated wash bulb
if you look at MP's wiring diagram the washer bottle and fluid res are both dotted not solid lines.
