Imagine the scenario. You are given £4000 by a nice stranger. No strings attached apart from:
1. You must spend the money on a classic car
2. It must be an automatic
3. It must not be German or Japanese
4. It can be American
5. The stranger says that it should be tax exempt if possible
6. He also said that it shouldn't be a Triumph Sprint as 'they overheat' and the water pump is made of 'Gruyere cheese' or a Daf as they are driven by rubber bands (I didn't say he was an educated nice stranger did I)
7. No projects, gotta be 'good to go'
Sadly, no, I haven't been given £4000 I'm just a bit bored and wanted a bit of fun.
So, whatya gonna buy. Oh, it can only be one car. If it's imported, the fees must come out of the £4000. £4000 is ALL you have to spend no matter what.

Classic Saab 900 convertible auto or Saab 9000 - I had one and still have the other albeit in manual transmission form.

It would have to be the first automatic I ever drove, A 1500 mk1 Ford Cortina Super in light blue with a dark blue flash

The thinking man's MGB. They even have a B-Series derivative under the bonnet!
I'd probably have to buy a Stag, Austin 3-Litre or a P5 Coupe. Maybe a very early pre-HE XJ-S if I inherited shares in Saudi Aramco.
