As some of you may know, I have ended up with Alex's fine 66 Coupe, named Priscilla. She was registered in Bristol in 1973, and as far as I can tell there was only one DAF dealer here at the time (Tanner and Sons) so it would have been bought from them. The garage is literally just a few hundred yards from the house I have lived in all my life, so it really does have a fair bit of sentiment included, I am afraid! I might well have seen the car around in my formative years, especially as I used to sit on the crossroads watching the cars go by. Priscilla unfortunately did not get me home from Luton last Saturday. She had alternator problems that Alex had warned me about, so it was not unexpected - I brought a new alternator with me, but sadly this didn't have an internal voltage regulator like the one she already had, and the external regulator was not present. Boo. So a lift home with a very nice AA man was made and I arrived home at 2:45am. Owww. But think of the fuel I saved The alternator was pumping out 19 volts and therefore was blowing bulbs all over. When I got home, I removed the alternator (such a nice and easy job) and then gave it to Sparks Electrical to rebuild. They did the whole lot and made an excellent job. Best of all, running Priscilla makes her gauge read as below, which is nice and healthy. Lovely. She is going to her first show on Sunday, and will be cleaned up in readiness. Pictures will follow As most of you will know, she will be looked after and enjoyed by me. It's been ages since I've driven a DAF and love what I've experienced so far!

She certainly does Paul - I can fully understand why you liked her so much. NO EXCUSES for me not to turn up at DAF events in future now, is there?!

Excellent news Howard! Look forward to catching up with you in some future events. Glad to see you've rediscovered the joy of DAF.

"Glad to see you've rediscovered the joy of DAF. " I owe it all to Essex DAFs. I loved driving Goldie, and Matt was delightfully kind for entrusting her to me. It really has boosted my enthusiasm enormously - and I now realise what I've been missing! Next to rejoin the road will be the green 44, which oddly enough I haven't christened yet. I suspect I shall be posting Danny at DAFHobby a large sum of money in the none-too-distant future.....

Hello, Just to complete the links - I bought this car from Paul and later sold her to Alex after a couple of fun-filled years zooming around Berkshire. (And that is not sarcastic - after the 33 I had before, I was giddy at the speeds I could reach in Priscilla) So it's really good to see her in another safe pair of hands, and I'm sure you'll really enjoy her! Simon.

After a shaky start she is settling down nicely. After a hearty T-Cut today she looks much better, and I took her out for a wee drive to get fuel. Unfortunately, she is not too happy on the tyre front in that one of them and the spare don't seem to want to hold on to air for very long Cobwebs are being blown away and she feels so much better than she did when I left. Brakes work better, belts seem to run smoother, and steering seems smoother. With the tyres as they are, and the impending bad weather I might well not take her to the show tomorrow. But we'll see! It depends if my folks want to come along, as getting into the back of a coupe is NOT fun for anyone!
