Those who have been on the forum a while that I have problems with the local youths. Now they have struck again and big style this time! This is whats left of my triumphs instrument cluster after it was ripped out and laid into with a hammer. These children are between 8 and 10 years old. After sweeping up the area around the car this is all that was left! Goodness knows what has happened to the remainder. I dont know what to do now and am very gratefull to be moving soon!

I honestly hope that was reported to the police before cleaning up, Paul - that's getting into "proper" criminal damage territory and the police should take it seriously as an attempt to prevent them going on to even worse in future. Pretty well guaranteed they couldn't have got into the car and done that without leaving some sort of evidence behind and, having had a forensics team out across the road today for damage to someone's car, they can respond. The Criminal Justice Act 2003 S.146 made an offence "motivated (wholly or partly) [...] by hostility towards persons who have a disability or a particular disability" an aggravating factor similar to racial or religious hatred and expects the courts to apply harsher sentencing in such cases. Seeing as statute law places an emphasis on such crimes, and given your family's circumstances, telling the police that you believe there's a "disability" element to the ongoing harassment will make it considerably harder for them to do nothing

I really feel for you Paul, that totally sucks. And when they are older and have their own possessions that they hold dear then no doubt they would be abhored if someone was to do something like that. Regretfully the treatment of minors is somewhat lacking. The worst they could get (very unlikely unless they are heavily repeat offenders) is a trip to borstall with some government junket to take them windsurfing in Barbados to help them readjust to society. It really is quite sickening and I do hope that you've reported it to the police and that they will catch the little scroats. It's not even that you can give them a good hiding any more as then you'd be put on the child abuse register! The law is an ass and it has protected the purpetrators of crime rather than the victims for too long. Rant over but suffice to say this kind of thing really cheeses me off.

I will have a look for the choke bit for you paul.
Electrocution of the little bastards will suffice. I totally agree with Joe's angle on this and how it should be put to the police.
They have no concept of valuing anyone else's property. I doubt the little bastards parents would give a shit anyway.
Sooner you move, the better to be honest.

That is horrible! Get out of there as soon as possible! I would imagine a huge weight lifted off your shoulders knowing your vehicles will be safe. I feel for you, good luck.

Well the good news is ive got a provisional time to move approx 1st week of november Back to the car. I still need a new choke knob but ive had a few other issues since fitting the new dash. Which im a little stumped with. 1. At about 40mph there is an audible ticking noise from somewhere behind the instruments. 2. The temperature and fuel gauge are playing up. They read when the ignition is switched and when the engine is fired up but a few seconds later they drop back to zero and stay there unless the car is switched off. Ive checked all the dash earths and they are all good so im wondering if the voltage stabiliser could be the issue? The one that I do know whats causing is a fuel light that wont go out. That might be something to do with there being a 2 port sender in the tank and 3 wires to connect

>:(Hi,little "ba*****s.What about one of those mini-video cameras discussed on this DAF Owners Club forum? I have purchased one and it can be mounted anywhere in a car and not be seen.Perhaps with video evidence the police will have to do something about it! ! ! Good luck with the move. starider.
