I'm fuming. But it means I might not feel so guilty if I press her into daily service for my new 5 minute commute.
But still fuming all the same.

top of my doors are going again (never welded just shotblasted and painted over filler) and the bits ABOVE where I replaced the trailing edges of the front wings, but then mine has been on front line duty ever since being done... 11,000 miles ago

Had a look under the bonnet on Sunday. Then BANG. The little lug the bonnet stay hooks into sheared off. Good job my head wasn't there at the time!

We'll I'm a Dad now. And after a bit of a rough time we are all out of hospital and now I'm enjoying my paternity leave.
My plan is next week when all has settled here to get a new battery and get Goldie sorted ready for the better weather to come.

Well done that man! Or rather Mrs Joe. I guess we'll soon be having a master class on the fitment of rear seat belts?

Thank you, thank you all! Taking a slight break from parental duties this weekends job was to pop in the new rear seat kindly supplied by dafdaffer so that Goldie would have a nice all matching (if not factory correct) vinyl interior. As someone was asking the other day I will go into some tiny details. To take out the rear seat there are only four bolts. The top half rests on the bottom cushion and keeps the whole lot in. These are the two at one side. One lot has a sort of clip to hold it in place as you can see. So they were quickly swapped over, I know have a cloth rear seat cushion if anyone wants one? FOC of course. It is currently in the leaky shitty garage I have! And the interior looks so much better for it! After that I have noticed some oil dripping on the drive recently. So I had a look and she was running a bit low so I popped in some of this. Tescos finest It's been windy all weekend, the lug to fit the bonnet stay already sheared off a bit ago as I described here, well it was wedge in between the battery and a front wing whilst I popped some oil in. Needless to say this DIDN'T work. The wind too it, it bent the bonnet stay and smacked on my head. Wonderful!

The vinyl interior looks super. Will be far more practical for you all too! And perhaps do risk assessments when working under the bonnet!

I've done bigger all for ages. So I've finally got round to giving her a big wash. Now I know the drivers side door and seal is a little dodgy. Well it looks like it's just got a little worse!

It's a good job I had a nagging feeling and had a look at the paperwork file on Sunday. The MOT ran out on Saturday. GUTTED. I can't believe it's been a year already since the last one.
I will report back on the MOT. I don't expect too much welding this year. But never fear in any case, Mastercard is here!
I'm not going to lie, I could do without another garage bill as my Polo is on deaths door and making all sorts of noises that are becoming ever more difficult to ignore.

I'm an eternal pessimist. I'm afraid, still it is always nice to rub it (gently mind) into the face of my beloved but ever doubting wife. Whos 06 plate Corsa only a few weeks ago failed on all sorts of things!
Another year of squeaky belts, slight oil leaks and rust bubbles awaits.

I've been out for a late evening run tonight. I love doing that at this time of year, when dusk seems almost endless and the sky puts on such a wonderful show of colours. The roads are quiet and the weather is mild enough to wind all the Windows down to take in the fresh summer air.
Bad points: I was happily belting along and I heard a sort of metallic fart sound followed by a great increase in noise. So clearly something exhaust related has given up the ghost. I will have to investigate in the light tomorrow.
Good points: Goldie sounds amazing like an enormous snarling Harley Davidson.

Well I'm sat in work this Saturday morning, and it's the first bit of free time I've had in a crap few hectic weeks (and probably for weeks to come). So let us sit down, have a cup of coffee and recap. dafdaffer of this parish offered to help me (and by that I mean he did it all himself!) replace my drive belt. Only one on a 46 so half the work I imagined. Well I've never seen or attempted to change belts before, and there is a lot to take in! Look at the vario cover, one side filled with bits of rubber, one side clean as a whistle! Quite the contrast. I'm sure some of you who were at Princethorpe last year would have heard the belt squeal this little 46 is capable of producing, well looking and the new and old belts side by side it's easy to see why. Well thank you once again to dafdaffer. Goldie is running nicer than ever, this was Saturday two weeks ago, and on the Sunday I had an urge to sort something out that had been bothering me for ages.....this: I've got a Driveway and a broken Garage, the door will not open half the time, and when you can prise it open it won't stay there, meaning as a car storage facility it is USELESS and Goldie has been sat on the drive, getting rained on, getting cats jumping on her, getting ash blown over her from the bonfires in the allotments behind.....I could go on. And the parking situation at the front of the house is ridiculous some days. So I got a screwdriver, a spanner and a hammer and did this....DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. I now have a carport! So I had a tidy up to fit Goldie in... ...you might be able to see in that pile there is a new/old 46 Exhaust! Which will be getting fitted when I have some spare time. So probably after Christmas. And so I now have a large, and heavy old Garage door, free to a good home if anyone wants to cut it up and weigh it in. Goldie is nicely tucked up in there now and is now covered in a light covering of dust, which I hope is just from the cars going to the allotments on gravel track at the back of the house, and not Asbestos from the knackered roof. I suspect it is more probably a nice carcinogenic mixture of the two. Thanks again to dafdaffer, who continues to keep all sorts of Dafs belting along the roads of this island, not just his own!

Due to circumstances outside my control I haven't touched Goldie for weeks, I've got a new exhaust but not got around to sorting it out yet, but I have used some of this unpleasant looking gunk Which has made her a bit quieter. I've also given her a wash and she was utterly filthy. Covered in all sorts of concrete and asbestos dust. After missing everything I hope to pop down to Essex later on this summer. But I'm not holding my breath that something else won't crop up to spoil that.
