Friend of mine is looking at an Audi A6 this afternoon. A Manual - but looking through Honest John's website - I came across this interesting paragraph:
Frequent failure of Mutlitronic CVT transmissions. These require a transmission oil change every 4 years or 40k miles whichever comes first, but the main problem is with the 6 plate electromagnetic clutch. Sometimes (though by 2007 becoming increasingly rare) Audi will contribute to replacement with a 7 plate clutch, as long as the car has a full Audi history and transmission oil has been changed at the correct age and mileage.
The rest of the A6 range doesn't sound particularly reliable. You'd have thought we would have perfected them by now! That's fancy electronics for you I suppose!
