>:(One of the baines of my life as workshop manager was the almost weekly complaint that"my Daf is not very economical".I used a method which I found kept the customers happy:-I had a screw top container which held exactly 1pint of petrol.["borrowed" from Weights and Measures when they checked our pumps one time]I soldered a length of pipe to the bottom.I would fill this with fuel and drive the customer into the country on a quiet road, drive until the trip registered the next mile, disconnected the pump feed pipe to the tank, ran the engine until the carb was empty, connected my pint to the pump, started the engine and drove until the engine[and car]stopped, worked out how many miles we had travelled, multiplied by 8 which= mpg,one happy customer and a break from the workshop for me!starider.
