Have started and driven my first 32 today, and been under, inside and out in it. I have a leaky brake cylinder to the rear, and naturally as I wish to drive this car regularly it makes sense to replace all the cylinders, shoes, and hoses.
I have new shoes and I think I have wheel cylinders too, assuming that the 32 ones are the same as early Minis (as is commonly reported). Does anyone know if hoses are compatible with any other type? I know I can get all this from Danny at DAFHobby, but no point in buying them if I have them already! Can anyone confirm this, please?
One of my doors on the all-green 32 is quite dented, scored and holed in both lower corners. Of course it can be repaired, but it may be easier to replace it (I KNEW I needed a spares car!) - the other perversely is almost perfect. I am going to fit new outer sills too so I can inspect and protect the inners whilst I am at it. I would be amazed if they didn't need a little work.
I've felt grim this bank holiday with flu, but I have still enjoyed poking about and getting things done. Roll on the lighter evenings!
All the best, Howard

hi howard.
i needed new flexi hoses on my 44 as well.
i took one into a motor factors and they said that if i could wait a week they would send mine to the manufacturer and get it made to measure.
this was actually CHEAPER than buying the nearest fit by a good amount. the guy actually tried to apologise for it taking so long to do. ;D ;D
both pipes made to measure for £22 including vat.
take the pipes around your local factors. they may surprise you.

Thank you John! Can you point me to exactly the right part numbers (there's plenty of websites in the UK, eg Moss, where I can get hoses and cylinders, but I obviously want to make sure I get the right ones! I think I'll buy a job lot and change them as I go!
No sense in NOT changing them for what it costs (and indeed my own safety).....
Thanks John!

Sets of competion spec braided hoses are available through the spares from the DAF Owners club, these are excellent made to measure, fit and forget items. I have a set fitted on my 66, easy to fit all 3 replaced in less than 2 hours, and I'm not a very good mechanic.
There have been quite a few many enquiries about spares recently, If you join the DAF Owners Club, you will receive a 7 page print out which lists all the parts available. This on top of an excellent Club magazine should be encouragement enough for anyone with a DAF to join up.
