Hi.
Im going to start work on getting my 66SL back on the road. Its been in dry storage for almost 8 years and apart from some rusty wings was quite solid when she went in, so Im hoping its not going to take much.
I do know that it will need a complete exhaust though, so if anybody has one or knows someone who has Id be grateful.
Many thanks
James

There's an autospares place near Heathrow Airport that had a Daf 33 exhaust system made for me & I imagine they'd be able to make a 66 one, too! I can get the details if you need them.

Thanks Andrew. That will probably be where I end up. I seem to remember it was ok from down pipe backwards, but seemed to have rusted at the join to rear silencer and on the bend to it before it goes over the back axle.

I've just looked up the details of the company & their website is: www.collectorscarparts-heathrow.co.ukI've used them for loads of odds & ends, including those old yellow fog/blue spot lights cars had in the 1960's. Vintage stuff! They're minutes from the Airport. I don't know where you are but I work at Heathrow so I could collect something if you're not local.

Thanks Andrew. I'm only down near Brighton, so collection wouldn't be a problem.

I just logged on to the site for the first time since I made this post, so I thought I should update it. The Daf has been back on the road since August last year and needed the brakes freed off, some welding and the exhaust welded up because at the time I didn't have enough money for a new one. It only covered 300 miles in the last year, but I've since done more work to it and it will be used much more during the next year. I'm planning on tidying up the bodywork too.
