Hallo I am new here. I live in the the province Groningen, the northeasternmost part of the Netherlands. I was invited at this forum on Google plus by Dafwebmeister. I have bought last year my first Daf and it was a dream coming true. As a kid I was dreaming of owning a Daf. Mine is a 46 Deluxe from 1975. It has always been in this part of country. I know its history. I am the third owner. I haven't given my Daf a name yet, though I am thinking about Aafke, after its first owner. And here a small Youtube video. The Daf driver is Harold, my brother-in-law, who is telling in Dutch that driving a Daf is a very easy thing to do and how fast he is driving, which is also visible My blog in Dutch can be find here: daf46.blogspot.nl/Greetings, Marco

Well, after I was told here the variomatic-belt was causing the noise on my video I contacted a former DAF garage in Hoogezand. He knew my Daf very well and told me the set screw of the variomatic 46 was demolished. I had to get a new subbframe for the Variomatic. I ordered one at www.dafhobby.nl. After I few days it arrived. (see this blog in Dutch). After I had brought my Daf to this Daf-garage (why I call it this, see previous link to blog) for repairing the variomatic and to put new tyres on wheeles, he called me some days later. The 46 was fixed, but the variomatic belt was in bad shape and the master cilinder didn't function well. So I ordered a new variomatic belt and a new master cilnder at the Dafclub in Holland. The new master cilinder is recently produced and there were some problems of putting it properly in my car, but the the garage succeeded. See the pictures in my recent blog. Still a lot of thins have to done. But surely progress has been made. Here a picture of the broken subframe:

the bit for adjusting the belt is broken ? I bet with the belt adjusted properly now it makes a big difference to the gearing and how quiet it drives, always love mine the best when the belt is good, but being a 46 it seems to be a very regular adjustment

The bit for adjusting the belt was broken. But now it is fixed. And the Daf got a new belt. So well, it is much better now.

Yeah result Marco. Well done!
Thank you for keeping us posted and informed.
A lot of people seem shy and rarely tell us how they are getting on with their DAFs.

Thank you, Richard. I am learning a lot about Dafs these days. This summer I am planning to go to the variomatic cursus of the Dafclub. Al these technical things imply a lot new words. And posting here means I have to translate them in English. And google translate has no idea what a "stelschroef voor de riem van de variomatic" is. So Yeah now I know it is called a "bit for adjusting the variomatic belt" Well, finally all difficulties can be overcome but only if you try. And get lots of help, of course.

Several thousands (almost ten, If I remember it well) in the Netherlands, the board of Dafclubs assumes. That's what i have heard. But many Dafs are propriety of people who owns many Dafs and have some cars in a roadworthy condition and many not. This garage doesn't earn much with Dafs but the knowledge of repairing and maintenance is still there. The 3 Dafs in the garage are propriety of garage owners. They still love Dafs and do remember the good old times when garage was dealer and sold many new cars, Dafdealer and Daf cars of course.

Yes I traveled to Amsterdam for picking up my model of my 46. then he told me about a special 44 he was making for someone in the UK. It had some special features like a luggage reck on the boot and special caps on the front lights. It must be yours he was telling so enthusiastically about.
