hi rich. did you check the filler cap for mayo when you took the engine apart,, and clean it a mate of mine stripped one engine 3 times because of may on the fille cap and rocker cover before realising he had not wiped them of and it was the SAME mayo each time. we have never let him live that one down. i also find that a 3/8 drive ratchet fits quite well into 10mm square sump plugs. just put on a short extension without a socket. make sure the inside of the square is clean first. hope this helps. good luck with the rebuild paul44

Hi Richard, you are right as it is a Belgian thing. In Belgium we have frietjes met mayonnaise and in Holland they use frietsaus. Mayo is a bit thicker than the frietsaus. But hey, are we not getting a bit diverted? Next thing we'll be on ready, steady, cook with a DAF dish lol.

hi.
i dont know about the daf rocker covers but the old mini rockers would leak if you OVERTIGHTEN them.
they would flex the wrong way and the gasket would not seal properly. it did not take much either. if you had a good grip you could do it without using a spanner. and that was on hex-heads.
generous amounts of instant gasket cured it instantly.
hope it is sorted soon.

HI Rich, make another hole in the rockercover where there is that flat bit then you can put another threaded post in and tighten it up a bit more, the 1300 had 3 but the 1100 had 2 bizzare!!!
i did that to mine when i wouldnt stop leaking ;D
