Trying to work out the original colour of our 33, and it's down to Kobina or suede. The trouble is, never having seen either apart from on the Classic Daf colour charts, we really can't work out which. There's DAFP010 on the chassis plate which looks like a paint code but doesn't appear on any lists I can find and I'm getting a little frustrated. The original is a very slightly off-white. Seems too light to be Suede but too cream to be Kobina according to the chats at Classic Daf. Anyone got any ideas? ??

hi the colours on classic daf are a good indication but i printed of a sample of mostana the colour of my car, although it was similar it was by no means a match, so take any digital images of colour with a pinch of salt. try classiccarproducts@yahoo.co.uk i think and if he has the colour he will send a sample taken from the mix. graham

hi graham.
i dont know if you have halfords close to you but if you take the car to them they have a really good selection of colour charts and will match it up in the car park and if you need it will make paint while you wait.
most paint factors have charts and are very helpful.
good luck finding a colour.

Hi,I have one of the original colour cards supplied by dealers. Kobina is a "real" white with a hint of blue.Suede is similar to a light beige/magnolia.Both colours on my chart are side by side and the Kobina is so much more white .Hope this helps. starider.

Hi again,If you cannot decide, try telephoning Pat Williams on 01271 327442 and ask for "Dave the paint",tell him your problem and give him all the numbers off the chassis plate and he may be able to identify the correct colour. He is excellent at mixing Daf colours, but of course we are down yere in dear 'ole Devon, some distance to travel!! starider.

Well, dug a little deeper and now thoroughly confused. Under the white paint is the light cream (hint of pink or hint of green depending on lighting) but, in a few places, under that seems to be a darker beige. Noticed it on a door first, and put it down to a replaced & resprayed panel but then found it in a few places on the main shell. If the cream is a past respray then it was a very professional one - must have been completely stripped to bare shell cos it goes under all the fittings including door locking plates and hinges, behind the dash inside and so on. But what I've been trying to identify may not have been a DAF colour after all! We can't get the car anywhere to match yet, and even if we do there's not much of the cream showing to match by, so have ordered some cellulose using hex (RGB) colour values taken from a paint chip I managed to get off it. Even if it's not a full match, should be close enough if I spray all outside panels. Or we may end up with a dayglo orange 33 of course

Paint arrived today and looks like it'll be ok - it's not dayglo orange! Looks like they match hex colours by taking the nearest BS / RAL colour rather than exact match so it's a little less green and a bit more yellow than what was on there. But it looks cheerful and will be repeatable as a standard colour. Since we don't know what the original was by now, that's good enough for me
