It's been ages since I've reported on my Volvo 66. This is the car that I felt the need to save at the end of last year. It needed quite a bit of work on sorting the transmission out - not its fault, but previous owners had swapped pulleys and bits round with good intention, but it wasn't quite right. On the whole, OK now. Bodily it is really quite good - the sills are the original ones with no holes, and likewise the floor. But there are several rust scabs etc on the upper body and the usual blistering under the chrome window trims etc. Nothing structural though. But at last I have got around to trying to tidy up those bits and bobs, and here are a few pictures: flic.kr/s/aHsk1f21JnI had toyed with having the body sorted out by a paint shop, but two made it quite clear by their lack of response that they weren't interest, and another, who I have used for the 33 previously, came up with a totally out of this world figure that I just can't justify (let alone afford - er, £2000!! So I have decided to just try and tidy it up. And the colour - lovely 70s yellow - well I was amazed to find that near as damn it, Hammerite smooth yellow is almost the same shade! It's not exact, but it will do for the touching up. It's a really nice car - but I love my 33 more!! Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Update - partly to see these boards actually work anymore. But I have been tinkering a bit more. Whilst on the whole the body is good and solid, there are some dings and dents and rust blisters here and there, some of which I have managed to cover up with Hammerite yellow. Some are still noticeable, especially the ones (bizarrely) on the roof and bootlid, so I have decided to do something I don't usually like to - move away from original appearance - by applying some stick-on styling stripes... Roof, boot and bonnet, the idea been to try to draw the eye away from the blisters. I've also been radical and painted the spotlights yellow. This might all be a strange phase!
