Drove Sian's daughter back to Nottingham Trent uni today and, just as we were approaching Brackenhurst campus a DAF coupe passed in the other direction headed towards Southwell. Apart from being the first Daf I've seen on the road for yonks, the condition (in the couple of seconds we got to see it) looked absolutely wonderful. Almost missed the turning to the campus as I was looking in my mirror Can't believe that someone with one in that condition isn't a member here. So, own up, who was it? ;D

Well, what colour is it? And talking of which, who owns a nice yellow 33 van? !

How bizarre...
Well, I'm Notts born and bred and still live here, and I was out in the Blue Bullet this afternoon.
However, my bit of Notts is further south than Southwell way, though I know that part of the world well.
That all said, it's yonks since I saw another DAF belting around here, let alone a coupe.

Soz, forgot to mention the colour. It was a sort of ivory / cream - Sian was in the passenger seat so got a better look and thinks it might have been suede from the colour charts. Whoever it was almost got stalked for a couple of miles by a little red Mitsubishi Colt diesel. But I was breaking my neck for the loo so resisted the urge to pull a handbrake and follow I noticed you were notts area, Richard, and hoped you could throw some light on it - it really was almost showroom condition from what little I saw as it went past. Hard to believe one in that condition could be hiding un-noticed somewhere!

Freakily I was in Southwell Saturday picking up my new car - sadly, not a DAF mind. However, it was hardly new but it is a goodie. Those who know me will know I have a soft-spot for Saabs (amongst others) and since my last 9000 bit the dust I've always wanted another. That's my insurance money spent, then! I checked out the registration of said yellow van and it is currently taxed - it's lovely, so if anyone knows who it belongs to do please tell them I admire it greatly!

Mine's a "nice yellow van" (Mimosa? I think) but I'm nowhere near Southwell. And the little belter is now off the road awaiting MOT so there might be 2 yellow vans!
Regards,
Pete.

I didn't see your car near Southwell, Pete - I was sent a picture of it and I wondered if it was an old photo or a new one! I was delighted to see that it was recent!!!!! Great to see that some vans have survived
