;D ;D Thanks John. new fuel line has helped but there is still something in the tank that i need to sort out. it does not cause a problem if i keep below 3/4 throttle most of the time so it is not much of a block and i will flush the tank again on the weekend. the car starts and runs well and a full service and tune up should sort out the very slight flat spot that remains.
other than that the car is really good fun to drive and i have done nearly 100 so far with no real problems and it has got me home every time so far.
i still have work to do on the car but it is getting better all the time and i hopefully i will have many more miles and lots of fun in this little car. will keep you informed. Paul44

Hi daf44, I've only just read your postings about your 44.Have you got rid of the flat spot?If you haven't it could be that as it had been off the road for so long, there may be dirt in the carb.especially in the accelerator pump jet.It may be worth a look. Take care when stripping the carb.try not to break the gasket or lose any parts. starider.

hi. the car is getting better all the time, especially with new plugs and air filter, (i am waiting for danny to match up the correct points as the early 44s appear to have different ones to the later 44s).
i have not touched the carb yet as the car seems to run fairly well apart from the slight flat spot, but i would be amazed if it is NOT full of gunk after seeing the state of the fuel tank, fuel lines and fuel pump, and stripping the carb is a job lined up for this weekend along with fitting the new front springs if they arrive in time. the fuel filter i fitted will stop any more stuff getting through.
i will let you know what happens.

john, you may be right on that. the basic motor is the same with a longer stroke to increase capacity so they may not have changed much else until later on the mk2. i will ask danny if.
thanks

i sent photos to danny and he thinks the points are from the older daffodil (daf30/31). he is sending me a set and i will see if they fit. he says he has never seen this on a 44 but it may be because it is an early one and they were changed for the mk2. will let you know.

hi again. new leaf fitted so i am back on the road yet again. 3rd time lucky ha ha. the points are the same on the 31/32 and early 44s. the autobooks manual has the same model no on the 31/32 dizzy as it does for the 6v 44. the 33 dizzy was different. the 12v 44 dizzy was different again. strange how a manual that has EVERY model number for EVERY dizzy/starter/generator and regulator for EVERY aircool daf can still list timing settings car EXCEPT MINE. just goes to show that some things never change. just as well that i do my tuning by ear really. speak to you soon. paul44
