I am wondering if it is worthwhile giving a new petrol tank an internal seal as the car will not be regularly used during the winter, and to especially protect against ethanol, The tank is generally in excellent condition (Thanks, Andrew!), and needs no repairs, but I was thinking prevention is best. There is no rust in the tank, except a small bit near the connection, that can be cleaned off. There is a bewildering number of products that claim to do the job:

Having used one of these products in the fuel tank of one of my motorcycles which did not do the"job" it was supposed to do,I have now followed the advice given to me many years ago which was to keep the tank well filled with a few shots of Redex[or similar]added.
