Hi, Today I ventured out into the barn/workshop and although very cold ,fired up the van[which started instantly thanks to the electronic ignition]and my mind slipped back to when I sat in it before Christmas and realised that perhaps the driving seat had, over the years of use, caused the back rest to be bent. With the seat as far back as it will go I find it difficult to get my legs under the steering column when entering or leaving. It seems that the base of the seat is as far back as adjustment will allow and I feel I am leaning backwards and seated too low.I've never had this feeling before in a 33. I would appreciate measurements from the front of the seat sqab to the top of the back rest please and any comments. Thanks. Just thought I can measure the Pick -up seat.

I've a few days off now and will take some measurements. I have always had the seats of my numerous 33s set fully back, although I'm not particularly tall (5'8") and found the angle of the backrest perfect. The brackets holding the seat supports to the floor have TWO settings, and can easily be adjusted by screwing some 10mm nuts and re-positioning the bracket. I must say that the 33 has just "stood in" on my regular 50 mile round trip to & from work for the last 2 days perfectly, managing an indicated 75mph on level parts of the M1 & M25! Premium unleaded and 2 degrees advanced ignition-go, Daffy, go! Just a random thought: is the seat's position affected by the rear bulkhead? From memory (again, at some 50+ years removed!) the spare wheel and jacking equipment was stored behind the seat; is this a factor?

I thought the spare was behind the passenger seat. That's where it is in the Pick-up and when we were converting the first Saloon to a Pick up at my school, both the vans I bought for spares, had the wheel behind the passenger seat. The seat in my van is as far back as it will go but I'm convinced it's the angle of the seat which gives a less than comfortable driving position. If it is as it should be I'll have to manage[of course old age doesn't help!!].
