I now have a new Daf 33, it is this car:
Surfing the internet, I came across this from a couple of years ago, the details match.
Not sure if the vacuum system is working properly. Press the low ratio button (or press the brake pedal) and the engine revs go down, or it stalls. The "blow test" to the primarys pipes seems ok. ( andrew enjoy your new Daf and family time ! )

I looked at that car before buying mine and thought it a very good car. Well done, Bob, you have done well there! As to the uneven running, having "been there" myself it's down to careful tuning and timing checks. Mine has had a few problems there and seems to drift out of tune easily as well, but I'm slowly sorting it! As we say in Dafworld, onwards and upwards!
I look forward to seeing you 33 in the flesh soon!

Goodness me, that looks lovely!
With regards to the engine stalling when pressing brake or LRH switch. When the timing/mixture is spot on, the engine revs should increase slightly when pressing brake or LRH.
I find with my 33 that it also hesitates doing this until the engine is well warmed up, then it behaves as it should.
Don't worry too much about it - but if you can, check/adjust the mixture/volume screws on the carburettor whilst the engine is ticking over, and trial and error you should get there.

Looks v.good. I suggest the mixture is a too lean, turning the mixture screw out a little at a time and applying brake pedal should cure the problem. Good luck and congratulations in finding a rare example.

Running issues on this is down to such low usage, it will benefit from running ,all mechanicals are done .

Limit is 4,5% so regards and congratulations!

The 33's CO should be between 3.5-4.5%, so I would tentatively suggest increasing or enriching the mixture a little, as this will prevent the problems associated with an excessively weak mixture (burnt valves, insufficient acceleration and poor starting in cold weather are but a few). It's also worth pointing out that the mixture becomes still weaker when the brakes are applied, as more air is taken in from the primary unit at the very time when the throttle is closed. Just a thought.....
