The new series (as opposed to the constant repeats) of "Bangers & Cash" on the Yesterday TV channel, has featured a 66 coupe.
Many members of the Club will recognise this car, as for a few years it used to belong to an former chairman of the club. (The yellow 66 coupe with the "scary" registration number)
Anyway, they did the usual chat with the seller and explained a bit about the car. In fairness, their coverage and comments were pretty good, but they still don't really understand how to explain the Variomatic.
But, it got to the auction in Yorkshire and it sold to someone who came over from Northern Ireland. He seemed to give the impression that he didn't really know what he had bought.
Wish him well.
The auctioneer mentioned that they have had a few DAFs over the years - strange how none of them or their owners make themselves known to the Club.
Update 5th April For those unable to watch the programme or sit through the whole show, I have clipped together all the DAF bits into one section. Lasts about ten minutes.

Have sent some of the QR codes to Matheson to place or give to new owners of Dafs sold.

The new owner of the 66 needs some instructions, he does not know what he has got!! Seems to think its a car version of a truck!!

I'm watching it now.... It's an 1108cc Marathon, so not the ultimate Daf 66, as I always thought the 1300 was better. The explanation of the transmission was, as ever, completely incomprehensible, although I thought the summary of the car more sympathetic than the Daf 33 one a few series ago. £3,200 seems a fair price, although the new owner's clearly not au fait with Dafs.......!
