This is a great view. Although you wouldn't want to subject your now old DAF to some of the driving seen here!
It's a German TV car show road test from around 1968 when the 55 was launched. Check out the features and performance - and the lovely deserted roads.
Enjoy - even the music is in keeping.

A BRILLIANT video! Parking one's Daf in a 'fridge and then (as it appears...) taking it straight out onto a test track seems the height of madness, but that may be the way the film was edited. When it driven "at pace" around the test rack you can really see the disadvantage of swing axles as the rear wheels begin to "tuck under" and the car begins to oversteer. No wonder the 66 had a De-Dion axle fitted! Otherwise the car is given a good bill of health; brakes, acceleration and Turing circle are all favourably commented on, together with fuel consumption and noise levels being liked.
A fascinating piece of automotive history! The commentator's finishing comment is to the effect that the Daf is a good car! And the music's just great, too!

Did anyone else notice the engine. It looked like a 1.3, but the 55 was 1.1 wasn't it?
