Hello Folks has any one come across a means of fuel injecting a Daf 33 or 44. With a lot of motor bikes being fuel injected these day's there must be a way of doing it to a 33 or 44. Performance and economy must improve, and it would remove the problem of heating the inlet manifold.

hi bob. i would think that a central injection system would be easiest to fit as you would "only" ;D have to change the carb and fit the needed sensors for the emission/speed control.
a direct injection would be more difficult as you would have to make/fit a timing system for the injector pump. heads would have to be machined to accept injectors and all the pipework to connect it.
both systems have another BIG problem in the "brain" which would have to be completely reprogrammed to accept the flat twin engine layout and cylinder capacities. most injection systems also work on 12v which would give added work on earlier 6v systems.
It could be done but would be a LOT of work and expense. you would need to talk to a REAL injector specialist about something like this.

Thanks for the input, have improved the ignition side with a Maplin kit to stop burning the points up. Will do a bit more digging regarding the Bosch K-Jetronic as they were fitted to a few cars.

hi Bob (and everyone), if you are trying to save fuel its a hobby of mine take a look at my website www.daf33.piczo.com on the fuel saving page and hydrogen cell page. i am making FAST progress on getting my 33 on the road, the club has took some pics of the car and have confirmed it is a 1972! hooray!!! all the brakes are done (except master cyl rebuild) and the small wing repairs, new battery fitted and its drives (only using the handbrake to stop! LOL . as soon as i get my documents it will be MOT time ;D best wishes, Eric.

Lovely neat job of the weld on the front wing, Eric! I'm deeply envious (in the nicest possible way!).....
