You lads seem to know your stuff.... So do you think that these price guide prices are accurate in today's climate?

These prices are from 26-Oct-06 for a Daf 55.

I agree. Price guides for these are a waste of time.
I gave £50 for my 1967 MK1 DAF 44 as the guy was going to scrap it to make space in his garage. £100 later it had 12 months mot. (that includes mot test fee) £300 later (now) I am using it everyday and it looks tidy and does not miss a beat unless I forget to clean out the fuel filter every week. (still dragging gunge from the tank after total drain/clean) Total cost so far £450.
best offer received so far £1400. guy in car show used to have one and was offering CASH.
I like the car too much and will not get another one like it so the car is worth more than that to me.
As mac said it is only worth what someone wants to pay on the day. Different peope like different things.
Throw away the price guides. It is worth whatever you want to pay for it. good luck

hi.
i don't have any scottish relatives and my ideal start price for a car is FREE. I will go higher obviously, but that is a great price to start from and has worked for me in the past. (2 minis and a 1969 riley elf).
start low and only pay as much as you need to. ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the advise lads. A local scrap merchant to me is advertising on the radio and he says he'll pay £120 for any scrap car. So it's gotta be worth more than that. (Not that I'm thinking of scrapping it). I think it's now bid upto £250 with a day and a bit to go. I'll keep you informed on how I get on. (Fingers crossed.)
