Oh my. I was hoping to be able to help when I read the title, but I feel dreadful about seeing this. I had a close scrape with the arson attack that we had, and it makes me wonder how I would have reacted if I had lost my collection.
A warning there though that I will heed - any security is better than none, and I shall never leave any car that I care about anywhere thinking no-one will pinch it. In an ideal world we wouldn't need any security devices, and much as I would love to think we can it's obvious we don't at the moment.
Looks like a fair bit of blood there - I hope whoever took it will think twice about doing that again. Presumably the passenger might have gone to hospital, and would therefore be easy for the police to trace? Or is this another "ideal world" scenario?
I'm so very sorry to read and to see this. I really do feel for you. If there's anything we can do please shout.

Who the **** wants to steal a DAF and then plough into a sign with it? Is it really salvageable? I have the front end still here from Peanut which I cut off for you earlier this year. Also have a screen or two. In fact, I took her to bits and kept everything there was to keep. It looks like she might be bent as well. It looks so bad, it would be a write off for me. So really sorry and angry that some little ******* can do this. Like Howard said, he might bleed to death. Keep us informed.

Rich that's awful. So sorry to read and see this. And all the work you put into it and enjoyment you got out of it. So they have scumbags over the water as well.
I presume they hotwired the ignition?
I agree with Howard and the blood evidence. Surely casualty etc would have taken in a bloodied person?
And I have to say that it looks like it will be a complete write-off. And I wonder whether realistically there will be any bits you can salvage?
Anyway, I hope that you are able to find a new DAF soon.
All the best.

Oh mate i am so sorry, that is horrendous after all the work that you did on it i cannot belive it, i was only joking with the mrs the other day that i never lock mine and if they ever did they would crash it down the road as its that slow, i think now that i wil start to be more cautious! however looks like they have come out of it bad as well, is that blood down the door panel? and the steering wheel looks badly bent. B@stards. do you want another yellow 66? let me know mate. Paul

Are you sure you could fix that? It looks pretty bad. Lots of things must be bent. How about the engine? Is it an 1100? Is the engine damaged. I have more radiators than you can shake a stick at lol. Subframe, etc... Even have 14 inch wheels if you need them.

well, rich there is no rush if you want it, mike has given me the car and you can also have it for free, it has been garaged years and does need work but alot less than yours does, there are a few holes in it but it is quite sound, it would be a better bet than rebuilding yours!
hope all works out and hope that you can salvage parts from it, i personaly would not repair it as its wel past economic repair!
let us know what happends
Paul

'Scuse my language, but... bloomin' hell!!!!!!!! About the only good things I can see in those photos are the amount of blood and the shape of the steering wheel after (hopefully) embedding itself in the driver's chest. As for repair, if the insurers will allow and you have the will (and a front end and somewhere to do it) then getting it back on the road would be a real triumph - there's always something special about Phoenixes (Phoenii??).

If you do decide to go for repair, I might be tempted to jump on the ferry at some point (study etc allowing of course) I'd be pretty surprised if the insurers didn't judge it unsafe but you never know. As you say, retaining salvage is the important bit - especially if you manage to get Paul's over.

hi mac. I hope those b^$"^$%£s are in serious pain somewhere. There is no need for that. Do the police do DNA tests on blood like that. there is certainly enough of it and they may be able to trace the little £%^%£"&"£ that way. looking at the photos, i would not hold out much hope for a rebuild at all. what a waste of a perfectly good car. paul44

It's a pity it wasn't fullof corpses when you found it.
If the Gardai don't do DNA on it I would want to know the reason why.
Bastards like that put everyone's life in danger.
Pete.

very sorry to read this.. a terrible experience for a car enthousiast..
please do not fall for false hopes; this car is a technical write-off now. try to wrench as much as you can from insurance, with return of wreck, and bolt off all the good bits. there is little use in wasting time and money on a broken body.

That sucks a bunch! Sorry they smashed your car. Luckily there looks like alot of blood on your car so hopefully they got pretty messed up in the process. That free yellow one looks like a good bet to replace yours. :-)

hi richard. I would not go quite as far as chaining it in the garage but i would fit a tidy alarm. then i would connect the alarm to a couple of 120db sirens to deafen the little $"^£%!*^ and a smoke bomb under the seat so they cannot see either. ;D ;D make sure you turn it off before you get in the car though good luck with the "new" car. paul44

That's better service than we'd expect over here! Nice to know that, even if it never gets to court, they suffered a bit of discomfort - well, I should imagine quite a lot with a tongue bitten off ;D

Ahh, but his force would have caught them for speeding before they crashed it. Honest, he keeps telling us so ....
