Hello all,
The questions keep on coming your way! Regarding the 33, are all of these 6 Volt or is/was there a switchover during production?
If 6V, does this cause any problems?

They were 6v up to about Sept 1972 and 12v after that.
Ours is 6v and so far it doesn't seem to be a problem - apart from having to get a little inventive to fit a stereo! Also, bulbs and so on tend not to be off-the-shelf in your local fuel station (but, of course, you always carry soares bought in advance.....)
One benefit is if you ever need a jump-start then a 6v will spin very fast indeed jumped from a modern 12v ;D
edited to add: given the change-over date, being 6v may well be enough to "prove" tax-exempt status as pre-1973 manufacture in any case of doubt.

The most important thing to remember with 6 volt systems is to make sure all your electrical connection are perfect, even with my 12 volt system I still use copper grease at all the electrical connection more so on the earthing points. On the 6 volt models I had, I alway put an extra strap between the engine and battery earth, to assist the starting circuit. With regards to lamps there is a Company I have used called Light Source supplies on 01328853333 who maybe able to help, but it would be in quantities of 10 lamps. With the advances made in the solid state LED field, and the size of them, I would think you could mount one or two with a ballast resistor in the base of a standard lamp? Maybe a project for the Winter?
Regards Bob.

Thanks again for the information. I do know about bad connections, I drive British I´ll see how it goes when I actually own a DAF.

hi
i find that motorbike shops stock 6v bulbs on the shelf as a lot of small bikes still use 6v. i always carry spares, but the bike dealers by me has headlamp bulbs, indicators, stop/tail, clock/dash bulbs and even 6v flasher units on the shelf. they are also very well priced as they still buy in high enough quantity to keep prices down.
with regards to led lights, Maplin does a good range of LEDs in various colours and sizes. the ones they have listed as 12V work fine connected straight to a 6v system. no need for resistors etc. again pennies eachand will last longer than the car they are fitted to.
i have not found 6v to be any more problematic than 12v systems on old cars.

What kind of connectors are used in the DAFs? Bullet connectors in Lucas style?
