Hello all,
I was just wondering what size tyre people tend to use for the DAF.
The 145s are a bit hard to find at the moment, so would a 155 fit?
What size rim does the 33 have? My Minor has 3,5 inch I think, and that can have 155s.

Betty is running on 135/80 13s. That's what she had when we got her, and couldn't see any benefit to changing. Hard to get through the Nationals - they can only use their own supply chain - but no problem at all for the locals around here. Cost us about £103 for a set of 4 fitted & balanced.

Will do, had a quick look online, and Kwik Fit were actually the cheapest (there is a first for everything!) One more question on this subject;
To tube or not to tube? (Will I need an inner tube like on my Minors?)

Ours were tubed already and the tubes were in good condition so we stuck with that - not even sure if the rims are suitable for tubeless As for price, our local Kwikfit quoted £35 a tyre (no doubt with a discount for 4) "if they could get them". Definately worth phoning a local tyresmith if you have one nearby - one of the few things that may not be cheaper online!

I'll see what the tyres are like first.
Are there any brands to avoid? (I'd like some Vredesteins to keep the Dutch theme going) I normally go by the rule if I can't pronounce it it's no good...

Can't really say there's anything I'd avoid given the gentle life most Daf tyres get. Ours are made by "Event" (not the same as the internet tyre service of the same name) which is also a Dutch company - fairly new to the scene but seems to have got a few good reviews in the budget market.

Ah, so the 44 runs on 14" then...
I'll go and collect the car tomorrow first (hurray!!!) and then I'll see how good the tyres are and what size is fitted.
Thanks again for all the help, much appreciated

What car did you get then? My 33 is tubeless, I fitted them myself and just got them balanced. Bit of a search for a garage which can (or even want to) balance 3 stud wheels without a hole in the middle of the wheel.

I found some garages and even a tyre centre who are more than happy to balance wheels without a centre hole.

The Daf has arrived All went really well, it was along day, but very much worth it. Just the small matter of getting her running and through the MOT.
