hi.
use the term "sill plate" or "outer sill".
in england the "rocker cover" is the cover on top of the cylinder head that covers the valves and tappets.
What would this be in american terminology john?
that looks like a lovely little 44 though Pavel.
ps. DAFs are totaly rare cars in ANY country ;D ;D
great fun though

Hello Pawtre and welcome! Your English is a lot better than my Polish, so no need to apologise! The right oil and some service information for the Daf 44 is on my private site at: www.dafmobile.ournet.org.uk/daf44data.htmlMost of the site is about our Daf which is a 33 but that page is for the 44 and 46. The only listing I have for spark plugs is the "old" Bosch number which was W.175.T1. Using their "new" numbers this is a Bosch W7A or W7AC (with a copper core). It cross references to: Champion L85 or L82C NGK B6HS or B6HV AC 43F or 43FF Lodge HN KLG F75 Joe

Wow! Great. All of you give really good advice, thank you very much! Now the DAF is standing, beacouse I have to register them in Poland, which is not easy, and also we have winter. I don't think that driving an old car in winter is good idea, beacose on the road we have salt, and lots of heedless drivers. I see that on this forum some people have another classic car, so I want to show mine, I think, you enjoy them: Skoda 110Land Wartburg 353 This is my daily driver, is totaly junk, but I like them:) This inscription "ciagnac" under the bumper is the same like inscription on the shop door. It's mean pull. On the back I have push;) Student sense of humor:] Ok, so now I write only about my lovely little 44;) <- I like this. Happy new year!

I like the Wartburg. When I was at boarding school (not by choice and not a posh one) in Belgium in the 70's, the head teacher had 2 of them. With the 2stroke engine, they make this very distinctive noise. Because of this it used to smell funny and smoke quite a lot. As an 8 year old I didn't understand why it sounded like a moped lol. I don't drive my DAF's much in the winter either because of the salt on the roads. A friend of mine said that these days it doesn't do any harm to your car as they manufacture it to "protect" cars. I believe it when I see it. Which part of Poland are you in Pawel?

Warsaw is capital of Poland, my village is Michalow-Grabina. I find also, that probably I will be first person from Poland who will be shopping on Dafhobby.nl: www.dafhobby.nl/pages/autosklanten_overzichtpag.htmlBut for the first time I have to start ride my car. I just want to know how Variomatic work in this car, a read lot of things, but I think that in repair book this kind os information have to be. Also it will be god idea have books like this, of course I buy it but maybe I can find the same book in electronic version;)

Hi! I buy book on ebay. Could you tell me something about exchange parts to DAF. I know that repair kit for brake pump is the same like in VW Kafer. Is the brake light switch also the same? Brake cylinders are made only for DAFs and there is no another posibility to exchange them? I still make a list wich parts I need, there is lot of them, so if I can buy some of them in my country it will be great. Some parts I made by myself. Especialy body parts. For example air filter is made in polish factory "Filtron" form my order. I hope that it will be fix.

Both our 44s are (presumably) ATE all round. The fronts are both definately ATE, and the 75/76 DAF is definately ATE all round, if that helps Both are RHD.

Wow! I didn't expect so accurate reply. I don't want to change brakes or anything else in my car, beacouse for me very important is the originality. My friend, who have Mini, told me that rear brakes shoes is the same like in Daf. He was read this on the box. But brake rear shoes is not a problem in my country, there is more manufacturer than ATE.

Yo! Probably on friday I started drive my own Daf:) Then I show new foto of my car. My friend check for me how many DAF 44 are in Poland. I see in my country one 33, one Volvo 66 and one junk of 750, so I think is pretty rare:D What's more, I find his link in another topic: www.dafmobile.ournet.org.uk/index.php/page/19.htmlIt's great! If you have more links with fotography and text about reapair this car send it to me, I really need it. I put to my car Castrol GTX 15W40, I put it to Volkswagen Kafer, so I thought that tis oil will be good, in futer I want use 15W40 MoS2 Liqui Moly. Is it good idea? My car have 50k km mileage. I understand, that if I change oil, I have to change also this: And something more? When button with triangle should be use? It's for entry into the hill but how it's work? With brakes I also solve the problem. I buy repair kit for brake cylinders, new brake shoes. I hope that brake drums will be in good condition. For brake pump I have also repair kit. I want to write something more, but I forget... And on September I started study in Eindhoven, so I thing that I solve deficiency of parts to Daf in Poland;)

Hello! I have some question, but also, I want to show you something. Daf is really curiosity in Poland. Everyone want to ride him, look on the vario or engine. There is few person that know what is DAF. I have some photo from events with oldtimers, I hope that you like it: Here more: foto from Polish Championship Historical VehiclesOr: From event caled Baloon cityI been on more events, but I can't find link to photo, in future I show more. But I have also some question, could you help me with them: - Which is controlled variomatic? To centrifugal force and vacuum? - How mileage could be the engine and how much was the emergency? In '70s, when DAF was a normal car. - How much does DAF cost? In UK, Germany, Holland, even in USA:) I think that it's enough. If I want to know more I ask about it. Thanks!

And maybe you know some website where i can find some info with pictures how to change them, and how to check Variomatic? I know that in Haynes is everything, but more info is only better!
