Dear all,
Me and my Daf 33 ('72) came to England in january this year and let me first say that we are happily surprised to meet equal Daf lovers on this side of the ocean.
After a somehow troublesome winter, real troubles just started yesterday. It wont accelerate if its geared in forward or backward. If its in neutral, all seems to look normal, but when I shift it in gear in either direction, the motor will not accelerate, no matter how much gas I give. I suspect that it is the gray little box that has 4 tubes connected, in between the carborateur and the white vacuum thing attached to the back. But the problem is new to me (driving my Daf for 13 years now).
Please, any suggestions: m_rie33@hotmail.com

Thanks John.
I did check the hoses that come straight from the Variomatic, they looked fine as far I can see. I did not look at the 6 in the engine compartment. Where about are these? And can I do anything more than looking at them?
Thanks! Marieke

Hello Marieke Please check the following. With the car out of gear and the handbrake off can you move the car freely. If yes then disconnect the hose from the inlet manifold below and at the back of the carburetter and block it up with a plug (pen top, etc). Start the car and see if you can drive it, if you can, it should go but will change gear a lot later than normal. Please let us know what you find to try and isolate the problem.
Regards Bob.

Oeps, guess my English is falling short here. John, what is the firewall, is that the back board of the engine? And Bob, I will try that tomorrow evening and let you know. Great and many thanks for this support.

Indeed its most likely these tubes. Where can I get new ones? With the club?

Solved! Its back on the road again. I got some gasoline tubes that did the trick. Thanks again and look forward to join a Daf event here in the UK ....

Wow well done!
I hope that you may be able to get to Stanford Hall, South Leicestershire on 7th May, and/or our club concours at Princethorpe, near Rugby/Coventry on 25th June!
