Wire feed is pretty steady on them (especially for the price) and the 60 amp setting can be used for body panel weight when you get your hand in (it's more like stick welding technique than normal mig). Just have to be prepared to clean up the slight slag from the gas-less wire. Also ok up to 3 or 4 mm stuff on the higher setting but the duty cycle's quite low so don't plan on running 10 foot seams without a break Done with a Screwfix gas-less welder and weldmate (iirc) wire off fleabay at about £18 for 3 rolls, plus about 2mm skim of filler (at the thickest part).

That's looking good! Do like the way bits can get cut out clean and replaced - the joys of having a separate chassis to work with, eh?

Nice one Stef and now I understand! I thought you were racing the Scim! So I guess it will be the Scim's chassis and runing gear with the DAF shell? I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Well engine craned into place, its tight!!!! and the rack will have to be moved forward and down! water pump clears the front of the suspention tower need a smaller oil filter (cosworth one should fit and I am told it is alot smaller front on gearbox shows how far forward it has had to move It will be far from road legal when it is done Joe but I am very happy with the way that it is looking

Nice work (and fast!!!)!
Is there room to swing the alternator to the opposite side of it's bracket? Or shorten the adjuster and use a shorter fan belt? Failing either of those, are bonnet bulges allowed?

Well John first race of the season is sunday the 24th of April so I think I will miss that one some how, I would like it to be out for the last couple of races of this season though if possible.
Hi Joe I think I will just take the alternator of and just make sure the battery is fully charged, they are only 10 and 20 lap races after all.

Good progress there Stef. Looks like some small challenges ahead but I'm sure nothing you won't sort easily enough with some tweaking. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Hi Stef. Finally made it to DAF HQ It looks highly likely that Retro Cars magazine is going to do a follow up article of the race series with talk of a photo shoot at the track in August. Hows the Modified coming along..... it would be good to see her in print

Well no pictures yet but have moved the engine back as now allowed in the revised rules for scimitar chassis and made the prop shaft.
Trimed the rear arches some more as well as they were catching on the rear slicks
