well. . . how overdue is this update, firstly my apologies fro not being particularly active on the forums, PC issues have made life a pain in the bum , as has work being a total backside.. Today I finally got her out the mudpatch where she lives and into one of the barns... why you ask?? (or maybe lnot lol) because this week she is getting painted. She is staying in 70's awful orange but she will be gaining a black stripe similiar in style to the Ovlov 66 one and also the rear windows will be recieving some tint film before they are fitted, no im not a boy racer, but if I have the dogs in it I want heat to a minimun. Right then... where was I before I started rabbiting on.. oh yeah before I forget can Matt or Pete please inbox me their numbers as I have lost them out my phone completely somehow Tuesday 31st July Last time I checked in we had just uncovered the rust in the drivers sill, tonight I decided to crack on and get that big bit done first as then it only left me a couple of small bits.. oh what famous last words.... on tidying up the front end it soon became apparent the jacking point was sitting on little more than a memory so yet again I found myself removing spot welds.. (de-ja-vous here....) This exposed properly the mess that was sat underneath (have to say thats the one part of a dafhobby sill I dont like, it is cut to sit AROUND these jacking points and they are a total rust trap) If you look in the bottom part of the picture you can see a proper round drain hole AND a jaggedy rust hole, so that part of floor will also be getting changed. Out came the choppy chisel and in good trn out came the thin tired rusty metal Hmmmm thats made a gap Ok start to put some back in Ahh your just the right shape for what I need right then thats the line restored Quick bit of shaping on the repair piece as it wasnt quite to my standards This was the view of it I had already posted, as you can see the bit you would see under the door is flat, well it needed a bit of a radius to it, only very slightly mind.. Started to tack it into place, note the holes for welding it to the inner membrane lining up really well hmm seems I folded a touch too hard and theres a crease just visible, guess it will have a skim of filler after all well its only a small update.. sorry for that but that lot took 2 1/2 hours ! just leaves me with the last two holes now This one near the rear jacking point (have been inside with prodder and finger, all the metal is sound either side) and this one on the lower rear wing and then she can go for some filler and some orangeyness ! ! ! ! woohoo !! and of course refitting the front jacking point

evening one and all.. for the first time ever there were TWO people working on the Reenster tonight, my boss leapt in with his DA and a tub of filler and seems to have cracked the majority of it in one single evening... we have decided AGAINST weld repairing the doors as the metal is so thin the distortion would be dire so they will be getting rust killed and fibreglassed under the windows, I know it seems a cop out but on the car the window apetures have two sides to support each other, whereas on the doors they simply back onto the gap the window goes up and down in... so what did I do this evening for 2 1/4 hours??? one sodding patch...... This was the hole tonight was going to see an end to , as the greatest remaining hole I figured it just had to go. Started off with a piece of 1mm galv sheet and using the folder stumped a line across it at random Then find that pushing it round a gas bottle (for about half an hour lol) leaves it with a lovely radius not far off what is needed and trim to fit... In the meantime the whirlwind known as Paul has been busy Da'ing and applying plop to the dents has shown I will need to rectify some grot on the pass headlight surround Back to me, I then tack in the panel at the back and then find the last few photos are missing off my phone for some reason... ah well when I left tonight she looked like this, covered in dust but so much closer to paint thanks for checking in

his is a fun post for me to be making, it really is... today i think I put the last piece of new metal into Reenie for the forseeable future, monday evening will see waxoil liberally finding its way into the crevases and cavities, and hopefully it will stop any rust in the bits where I cant see or get into... so what did today bring? quick bzz with the airsaw saw this little piece of floor bite the dust still useful as a template though ahh yes before I forget, fully welded rear 1/4 floor patch cut to shape and offered up from underneath and most of the welding done on this side followed by around the underside bit then to the piece between front footwell and outer cill that was missing I take no prisoners then to the big patch at the back and fully welded (cant find pic sorry) and last but not least.. I put the new edge into the pass headlight area (an did the small hole under the cill but cant find that picture either) she is being painted Saturday

evening daf't people today I sit here typing with black stains all over my hands.. WHY?? I hear you all ask.. well today she got waxoiled and undersealed, now I know underseal is a curse and a blessing but she does need to be used in all weathers so figured I would rather protect and repair than leave naked and hope for the best.. ok some pictures... for the record I used BLACK wax so I could be sure I got it everywhere... after all it will never be seen will it.... inside drivers rear quater and over wheel arch (flooded it) cant really see it very well but thats the underside of the window apetures (where I welded them up) rear pillar right side flooded around back of window curve the first bit I welded.. all those months ago, under the right hand wheel arch at the front out to the fold in the cill as it was originally left side under front arch, where I dug mud and crud out of, obviously the wheel fills this bit up near side rear cill passenger rear quarter again flooded down into the seams the mirror of all the above pics was also waxed, I used tetraseal Shcutz for the part on the cilld and under the front wheel arches, everything else internal was done with hot waxoil (fan heater on tin for an hour before hand, boy does it get runny ! !) when I have her on the ramp for the CV boots and belt I will check the rest of the underseal for any damage and repair as necessary ! thanks for checking in!

well... ive done so much the last few days surely there cant be another Reenie update looming tonight... well there is .. so nerr nerr started tonight by removing the glass from the tailgate and the windscreen as there is one thing that winds me up on freshly painted motors its paint overlapping the screen rubbers... all it says is sloppy, and I wanted to check there were no rust holes in the screen apetures. This was the only rust found in the window holes, a very pleasant surprise after the state of the sides easily treatable with dacrylate and nothing to worry about at all... poor old Reenie without any glass in Rear corner after a fill, Paul is really good with the plop the other one he did say he only had to do very little which I think is his way of complementing the metal work underneath Passenger side window area, filled now in high build primer was almost a tear jerker when I remembered how it looked first time I took the tape off and found gaping holes everywhere and the drivers side you would never know there was new metal in there, and thats how I like it Tailgate and back panel primered and thats how she stands, I did fix my washers tonight using 2-pack bumper repair glue, feathered the thinnest layer I could around the squishy thing on the dash and it seems watertight so far, they claim the glue is super flexible, we shall see eh.. if all else fails she will get a leccy pump an a microswitch inside the rubber bulb also one last question, in the rear view you can see the tailgate has a simple chrome push button with a finger hook underneath, yet the spare(believed to be the old one) has a hgue black plastic affair on it, which one is correct for my car please?

well I wont the battle with the washer jets in the end.... made a fork to go under them, out of a bit of plate and hey presto two intact washer jets, after a brief spell of compressed air they are also both seemingly blasting on both barrels too !! so fancy another tiny update (3 hours worth to be precise) Intact Washer jets showing the tabs that hold them in.. Air filter cleaned , sanded and satin-blacked tin shields on the barrels taken off, cleaned and treated to the same hmm what else looks tatty under here (after all underbonnet is getting painted next year) lets give that a clean.... lets clean that side.. no hang on lets repaint the tools, and the tool holder and the battery clamp the hole a jet fits into for future pictoral reference thatll do for tonight

ok there was me at work this morning, busy finishing the rush job for monday, the gaffer was in the booth with the daf when all of a sudden he comes over holding my welding helmet in his hand.. "ere you might want this" He had been cleaning up the doors and had got to the drivers door when the bottom had literally fell out of it... oh well lets not faff about, hes about to start priming the car and needs the door so out with the air saw and out with the rust.. ALL THE RUST ;D Go to the scrap bin find a bit of galvanised steel that was left over from a chicken coup I made for someone and cut a nice juicy 100mm wide strip Get it in Mr Edwards the pan folder and hey presto we have a replacement section for the door bottom Now you might not know this but the doors are like the cills and taper from the front to the back, 35mm on the front return, only 25mm on the back.. Fits a treat wont even see it with the strip glued back on Hmm something missing there, wheres the drill, Drain holes ;D Meanwhile the daf has recieved 2 coats of high build with a hand flat inbetween He will prime the other door tomorrow im knackered... she gets top coat tomorrow

Just been speaking with Nick. He can't find Reenie's headlights and urgently needs a pair or size confirmation so he can order some.
I'm not sure that any of the Essex mob will be going to the barn soon enough to get them to him for the MOT.
Can anyone help? Nick's asked me to post his contact number so please call him if you are able to assist on 07718 180399
Thanks,
Pete.

must be time for an update eh....... whilst the old girl has been busy drying herself in the booth (and going redder apparently) my good lady wife and myself have been busy with the aerosols and cleaners gettin her bits ready for refit.. started with her headlight bowls, (you never know they might be full one day) they were like this after a sand primered 1st coat of black and finally gloss top coat Checking "The Widge" for a colour match..... spent ages cleaning this only to realise its back tabs are missing easily solvable though Stainless bits for between window rubbers rear light lenses they both came back this bright Didnt even know I had these seat lock things all cleaned up painted and with their rubber bits back on rear bumper all rebuilt with its bracketry freshly painted broke a thread out of one of the endcaps but a 6mm tap and a 5mm drill fixed that in a jiffy shiny front bumper polished up waiting its brackets to dry before and after Bumper brackets in gloss black, nice and fresh !! thats it for a min.. expect another update before days out... we really on a roll now....

even at work today the others were saying how amazingly shiny and flat the paint looked, I had to shake the gaffer by the hand, I know how much work he put into her, way more than he normally does, I take it as a sign of respect hes done her so well.. course it does help theres 3 litres of paint on her too........... I kid you not ok then whos for another update??? first off lets see that list change belt change varios oils fit front lights fit rear lights fit door seals fit boot seal fit out tailgate fit out NS door fit out OS door fit rear seats ok then rear lights... check ! rear seats (these of course also include the side panels, boot panels, boot cover etc) realised where those little chrome things went.. and tried to sort the front panel but the clips are worn, so it will be getting some m4 bolts araldited into the back and bolted on I not got a thing to put my check strap onto?? im hopin its down inside the pillar... Identity restored noticed this little baby had come on after refitting the tailgate so it DID work after all !! so spent an hour restoring the pin switches on the door openings , they all work fine now not much of an update I know.. but I have been struggling to work out where it all goes a bit...
