See this thread in the home page: dafcars.proboards.com/thread/2481/putting-photos I dont like some of the hosting sites because they put a bar with their name across the centre of your picture. I use the add attachment facility in the Reply (not quick reply) button, top right. The picture must be below 1Mb in size, only 3 are allowed.

Just trying to see if it works. Firstly, to reply to your message, I hit the "quote" button. This brings up the words to your last post. I deleted these. Now I'm going to click "Add attachment", then find a photo on my computer. Then click on "Add files" I found a small resolution photo and clicked on it. And something appears that I have never seen before... A message saying "This forum has exceeded its attachment limits so no more can be added". So I think the good news it's not you doing anything wrong, it's the system. I've just checked the "Admin settings" which I haven't done for a long time, and it tells me that I need to delete lots of old attachments as the storage limit has been exceeded. Some are many many years old,so I'm going to have a go at a deleting blitz. I've now deleted lots and lots of big file photos, and the system now implies that we are back under the limit, so I'm now going to have another go at uploading a picture as described above: And yes! Then click again on "insert" and the attachment name appears. So I think you should be OK to try again now... All of which is perhaps a reminder to stick to good old paper as in magazine - most people who come on here aren't members anyway so really, we should keep interesting stories for club members in the magazine. Sorry for any confusion.

At last Chris got to put up a few pics. The van looks OK but still finishing off to do. I will be using pictures I have taken during the restoration to write an account of the work done with pictures which I will send to Richard for inclusion in one of the forth coming magazines.
You may notice that the rear step/bumper is missing,if anyone knows of one[in any condition] I would be interested. If I can't find one I'll to try and manufacture one from memory.
Following eye surgery I'm not allowed to do any strenuous work or driving for at least 2/3, weeks so will have time to do the article for the magazine.

That van looks fantastic! You've given me a push to work on mine, which has stood still for far too long! If I might offer a suggestion, how about fitting some appropriately period number plates? Those new yellow & white ones, complete with the Union Flag and "U.K." mark somehow look out of place.

Hi Andrew, I did consider period plates, but I think it's too young for black and white. We used to make our own p[ates way back when, using a jig and punch then rivets and star washers to retain the letters and numbers.I'm sure there must be companies who can produce period looking plates but our motor factor gives huge discounts on all parts we buy. You really must get on with yours!

Hi Andrew, having had a think about period plates,I had a look at the plates that it came with and they are the original ones that were fitted, unfortunately they are no longer reflective. I'm not sure if it would be legal if I removed the raised letters and numbers and fitted them onto new plates[which wouldn't have the makers name and appropriate code number]. Any ideas?

Hi, fitted the black and silver plates yesterday and the van looks much better. Thanks to Andrew for suggesting I fit these. I had fitted these B&S plates to the Moggie Van.Unfortunately I won't be able to fit these plates to the Pick-up[when I eventually get round to re-restoring it!], as it is 8 months too young,

Re-starting the van project now it's warmer in the workshop. Trying to work around the Moggie Van which is now back in the workshop as well. Still not completely resprayed as my friend had to give it up due to his wife becoming seriously ill.I have to re-fit all the doors and bonnet which are beautifully sprayed, then find someone to finish the job.Beginning to look forward to driving one or other of them on the road to iron out any small problems.

Hi, I was going to have problems with the door cards on the van, they had warped all over and the bottom corners had curled outwards. What to do? I thought about the problem for sometime, came up with an idea. I carefully removed all the trim clips cleaned both sides then lifted the large rug in our conservatory and laid the panels face dowm on the floor, replaced the rug and forgot about them for several months, thought about them occasionally as I walked around the conservatory. Had a look today and bingo they are as flat as they were when new, job done!

Have had a closer look tonight and I'm not quite happy with the result, so I'm trying another way to make sure they hold their shape. Will report later.

Hoping to get the van finished in the next few weeks and then produce a article/or series of articles for the magazine. It's down to a bit of interior painting, fit a bulkhead across behind the driver and passenger and the door to window rubbers and then it's fit to drive[unless any other farm related jobs occur]. I hope to have plenty of pictures to show.

Hi, after all this time I thought I ought to report on the van. Since the last report the van still sits on the four poster, always starts perfectly.Took it for a drive a couple weeks ago. Everything works as it should except the speedo trip doesn't register. Still have the same work to finish the project. My work at the moment is mostly splitting logs for our burner and waiting for the better weather to finish the conservatory roof on our annex cottage.Yesterday had to get the tractor out to tow a delivery van out of a ditch!!

PS Trying to flatten out the door trim panels,I have tried the dafman50 method, but couldn't get the hardboard soft enough to become pliable.Have left a spare one out in the weather for a few days[weeks]. I recon the hardboard has been impregnated with some water proofing agent. will report back.

Apologies for my absence of reports on the van in recent times but with hospital appointments, the farm and building work, both the Daf and the Moggie vans have taken a back seat. The Moggie was having the bodywork finished and resprayed but my friend down the road was unable to finish the work as he had a period of illness, then his wife passed and he is having difficult times dealing with his mourning and had to hand the van back.I have recently begun working on both vans.My annoying problem with the Daf is that I have just realised that I should have fitted the outer door/window rubber seal should have been fitted before the glass and winder mechanism, so I need to take off each of the doors to carefully release the mechanism to allow the glass to lower down far enough to clip the outer rubber[which has 2 lips to hold it in place]. I did try unbolting the winder mechanism but the glass will not drop far enough. Will report later.
